What is IMA?

Indian Management Academy -IMA is academically independent self financed autonomous institute of professional studies founded by CIHF in the year 2005 and it acts as an Admission, Information & counseling Centre for various Indian and Foreign University. IMA provides various courses in Distance learning and industry collaborative education Mode with undergraduate, postgraduate & research courses on offer.

What do you mean by Distance Education and Industry collaborative education?

Distance Education simply means imparting education from a distance. The teacher and the student are physically separated in this system of education. And Industry Collaborative Education is regular education with real – time industry exposure. IMA offers many Distance Education programs and Industry Integrated programs from various Indian and foreign universities as part of its effort to provide education to the students who for various reasons cannot join the formal education stream. Various courses starting from undergraduate, postgraduate & research courses are on offer.

What is Industry Collaborative Education in case of CMJ University?

Industry Collaborative Education is most contemporary noble concept derived by CMJ University as a means of continuing education for employed professionals as part of the human resource development programmes of specific organizations. For the conduct of Industry Collaborative Education programmes, the basic requirement is the participation of the collaborative organization by extending physical and other facilities and by agreeing to integrate their work requirements with the academic requirements of the University for the Pursuit of the degree programme.

What is the difference between Distance Education and Industry Collaborative Education (ICE)?

Regular Education

  • Regular / conventional education is an effective tool of teaching students in classrooms throughout the year.
  • Regular education is a combination of classroom teaching and self studies of students are not provided any opportunity to undergo any Industrial training or apply the theoretical basis of their studies in practical life.
  • This type of education sometimes proves wastage of time for more than 50% of students, as students leaves the field after study.

Industry Collaborative Education

    • In addition to regular education, Students obtain Industrial / professional exposure as a part of curriculum.
    • Industry Collaborative Education is emphasis on Classroom Training, self-learning and the pedagogy attempts to incorporate as many modern technologies as desirable. Students are provided an opportunity to apply all their theoretical knowledge into practical field with the help of industrial Collaboration.
    • Industry Collaborative Education is more focused and proven track record of successful generation of more than 95% students in the same profession.
What are the advantages of Industry Collaborative Education (ICE) over Conventional education and Distance education?

Industry Collaborative Education is most contemporary noble concept which integrates education with industry. Here students are working in the same industry of the program they are pursuing. The biggest advantage of Industry Collaborative Education over distance education and conventional education is that students are getting theoretical and professional knowledge at the same time of study only. Where as in conventional and distance education programs, Students are required to spend 3-4 years in obtaining similar level of professional knowledge after their studies. So it is clear that Industry Collaborative Education students are more professional compare to the students of conventional/distance education. The students of Industry Collaborative Education proceed fast in profession.

How CCII is conducting Industry Collaborative Education program of CMJ University?

CMJ University has resolved to conduct the regular Industry Collaborative Education and Research (ICER) Program related to management, information technology, engineering, social science, education, journalism, commerce, paramedical and other courses with the industry and education resource support from Apex eLearning Technologies Ltd., Bangalore to help in setup Centre for Collaboration for Industry and Institutions to design, develop and manage Industry Collaborative Education and Research (ICER) and directly enrolling student from India and Abroad exclusively for Industry Collaborative Education (ICE).

Are the university recognized by the UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION (UGC)?

Yes all the Indian universities are recognized by the University grants commission.
Since foreign university does not come under the purview of UGC they are not recognised by UGC and hence they independently have their own respective country accreditation & recognitions.

Are the programs/Courses offered by Indian Universities approved by the All India council for Technical Education (AICTE)?

IMA provides admission in courses directly from Indian universities duly recognized and approved by the UGC so the courses do not need an approval of the AICTE. However, for the purpose of ensuring coordinated and integrated development of technical education and maintenance of standards the AICTE may cause an inspection and render advice on the university from time to time.

As per law, Universities do not require AICTE approval. Only institutions which are affiliated to Universities require approval. Any Bonafide University established by a State Act, does not require AICTE approval. This standing of law is notified in the case of Bharathidasan University Vs AICTE.

What is the difference between Correspondence Course and Distance Education?

When a student takes up a correspondence course he/she is expected to study on his own from Self Instructional Material provided by the University or from the study material. There may be some contact classes. A student does not have the benefit of a teacher for most part of the learning process who can provide him/her with academic counseling. Distance Education is more structured and teacher-student contact is better.

What is a time – line for applying application for Admission?

Admission in IMA is open through out the year.  There are to admission intake year 1. Academic year and 2. Calendar year. Term end examination for Academic year will be held in the moth of July. Term end examination for Calendar year will be conducted in the month of December.

What are the documents to be enclosed as eligibility proof along with admission application form?
  1. Filled Admission Form (2 copies)
  2. 8 Passport sized photographs
  3. Residence Proof (2 copies)
  4. Photo ID proof (2 copies)
  5. Photocopies of all academic certificates and mark sheets (2 copies) i.e.

Can I pursue two programmes simultaneously are IMA?

No you can pursue 1 programme at a time at IMA.

Can a student register for two semester simultaneously
Re registration to two year simultaneously is not permitted & is solely dependent upon independent university norms & guidelines.
Do I need to go to the university after registration for any query?

No, you don’t have to go to the University for any Query or problem IMA will assist you with all the problems and query you have. However the student is free to directly approach the university in case of any assistance or information required.

Whether attending Classes is compulsory under Distance Education Mode?

No, it is not compulsory for student to attend classes.

Please go through Support Services under Education Methodology in the prospectus or check the university website for more information to know more about it.
However for certain course counseling and hands-on training is provided at admission & counseling Centers at additional cost on weekend subject to minimum student enrollment & batch completion. Students, in their own interest, are advised to attend these classes. However, attendance is not mandatory

To get an Admission under Distance Education of your university courses do I need to go through an Entrance Examination?
There is no entrance examination except for research programs such as M.Phil & Ph.D for admission to any of the courses of the university at present. The admission to the courses is purely based on eligibility conditions related to academic qualifications of a student. However these are subject to change according to participating university guideline from time to time.
Can there be refund of fees after Admission or if a student withdraws from the course?
No, there is no refund policy under any circumstances. Fees once paid are NOT-REFUNDABLE under any circumstances.
What is Lateral Entry?
Lateral entry is an opportunity given to a candidate having basic qualification and some other additional qualification/experience in the relevant field to enroll for a higher semester. However, such students will be required to appear and qualify in the previous semester/relevant papers. The candidate is required to pay a lateral entry fee as prescribed in the university prospectus in addition to the course semester fee in which he/she is seeking admission.
What is Re-registration?

A student doing course with DDE has to register himself/herself for each semester to become eligible to appear for the University Examinations. The terms 'Fresh Registration' and 'Re-registration' are explained below: -

  • (i) Fresh Admission or Registration - New candidates seeking admission are required to fill up New Admission Form.
  • (ii) Re-registration - existing students who get promoted to higher semesters have to re-register at the beginning of a Session and it is termed as Re-registration.
Re-registration to the higher semester is mandatory to become eligible to appear for the university examination for existing students.

How long does it take to issue the Certificate after submitting the application?
It depends upon the duration of course selected by te student, and upon successfully passing all the final examination upon the term end the certification is usually awarded by the university within 30-45 days, however for exact information uon the result declaration & certification the students needs to be dependent upon the university norms from time to time.
Will I be provided with the study material after I register?
It depends upon in which course & in which university you are applying since the study material guidelines vary from university to university, some provide hard copy of study material, some provide reference books list & sometime soft copies / ebooks are provided by the universities.
What will be the mode of examination? Whether it will be conducted online or offline?
The examination mode would be depending upon the mode offered by the partnering university in which the student is enrolled because offline or regular proctored examinations are offered by all the universities at the listed exam centre’s but few have an option to choose between the online & offline. Term end examination for Academic year will be held in the moth of July. Term end examination for Calendar year will be conducted in the month of December.

I am a working executive. Can I pursue the course?
Distance learning & Industry Integrated programs are specifically made to see that students can do self-study from anywhere anytime, and appear for the examinations and complete the program. It is designed completely in a flexible manner to suit the needs of the working executives and others.

What are the working hours/days of the Institute?
Institute remains open from 10.00 A.M. to 7.00 P.M. IST (Monday to Saturday). Institute remains closed on Sunday and on Gazetted holidays as notified by the President, IMA.
What should I do if there is change in my address or phone number?

You should immediately communicate the change in address or phone number by emailing the changes at email id: student.support@imaonweb.info   or by sending an application to change the same through courier or registered post at our office address.

Who can take admission in IMA and IMA partnering Indian & International Universities?
Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria of the respective universities in which he / she is applying can take admission i.e. Students, Professionals, Businessmen, Entrepreneurs, House-wives and any other individual who wishes to pursue Professional education while still continuing what he/ she is doing.
How do I know that I am eligible for a Programme under IMA?

Eligibility criteria are provided for all the Programmes. You need to study that carefully before filling up the respective universities Application form. Also, you can seek the help of our Career counselor to verify if you are eligible for a Programme or not. What if I send an incomplete application form?
Only duly filled in and signed Application Form(s) along with the eligibility documents duly attested by notary as true copy attachments, as prescribed, would be deemed to be Complete Application. Incomplete Application Form will be rejected. Therefore, to avoid this, you are advised to fill in the Admission Form/s carefully by viewing the Admission Procedure Guidelines at our website or seeking the help of our career counselors.
